Assessment
 
The Student Assessment Guide and Learning Plan describes the evidence required to be competent in this unit. 

You can track your progress by comparing it against unit requirements and at every stage of your learning and study. You can also get support from your iTAFE mentor and adviser.

There are many ways that you might choose to make your way through the unit. The diagram and suggested sessions (below) will help to plan your learning through the Provide care for babies and toddlers unit. A few points to think about for your blog:

What are some ways you can settle baby and toddlers to sleep? What relaxation techniques may you use?
          What information is valuable to gather from parents to assist in sleep routines?


Topic 2 - Mealtime environments (pink tiles)





This includes:


  • Infant feeding and food safety
  • Feeding breastfeed babies
  • How to make infant formula
  • Starting solids with babies
  • Foods for babies to eat
  • Quality mealtime environments


A few points to think about for your blog:


How do you currently design your mealtimes?


What do you like about mealtimes when eating with family and friends? How to this relate to the mealtime environment with children?


How important is it for babies to have one on one time when feeding?


Topic 3 - Children relationships (Purple tiles)



This includes:


  • Brain research
  • Qualities of temperament
  • Attachment theory
  • How to engage with babies and toddlers
  • Building relationships
  • Supporting emotional development
  • Interacting to support learning





A few points to think about for your blog:


How important do you believe stability and consistency in the routine and environment is for babies and toddlers?

Why are child comforters so important for a baby or toddler when transitioning into care? What experiences may heighten a baby or toddlers need for their comforter?

Topic 4 - Partnerships with families (Orange tiles)



This includes:


  • How to build partnerships with families
  • Ways to collaborate with families
  • Arrival and departure times
  • Importance of the family partnership with managing routines and transitions





A few points to think about for your blog:


Why is it important to build a partnership with families in your care?

What ways have you seen services collaborating with families?
